Income Tax Deadline Changes
On March 24, 2020, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced a 90-day extension for the filing and payment of Federal income taxes for individuals and corporations moving the normal April 15, 2020 filing and payment deadline to July 15, 2020, including tax estimate payments. This guidance replaces the previously announced extension of the payment deadline that had some limitation on amounts that could be extended beyond April 15th. There are no limitations and no need to file an extension. All Federal income tax returns and payments originally due April 15th, 2020 are now due July 15th, 2020.
Most states, including Missouri have announced they will honor the July 15th deadline. We will evaluate each client’s situation and ensure filing deadlines are met. We will provide updates as they become available.
We are constantly monitoring Congress’ disaster relief bills and will provide our clients the information and support they need to utilize the resources as they become available. If you have questions, please call or email your client administrator.
Given the severity of the situation, our Springfield and Kansas City offices are now closed to the public. Also, to minimize the number of staff in our office, our phones are on automated attendant. If you call the office, please utilize the staff directory (either first name or last) and leave a message.
We do have some staff working at these offices and have in place a process for clients to leave documents at our door if needed. Instructions are posted on our door. But we ask that our clients refrain from coming to our offices. Please utilize electronic means of communication including telephone, email, fax or secure document transfers to our staff. If you need assistance in sending us documents securely, please call 417-881-0145 and leave a message for your client administrator or send he/she an email.
