The Treasury Department and IRS have provided additional relief to taxpayers for a variety of tax forms and payments. Some of the highlights include:
- Previously, it was announced that taxpayers generally have until July 15, 2020 to file and pay federal income taxes that would have been due on April 15, 2020. This is automatic and no filing of extension forms is required.
- Associated interest, additions to tax and penalties for late filing or late payment will be suspended until July 15.
- Requests can be filed up to July 15, 2020 for an extension to October 15, 2020.
- Estimated tax payments that would have been due on June 15, 2020 are also extended to July 15, 2020.
